When you arrive into Dars Es Salaam international airport you will be greeted by your CEO and personal concierge for a quick transfer to the hotel. After settling in, we will have a pre Safari meeting and briefing to ensure that you are prepared for your customized fantastic adventure.
Day 2, Dar Es Saalam to Bagamoyo
After breakfast we load our provisions and begin our safari driving northward along the Indian Ocean coast from Dar Es Saalam (the Abode of Peace) to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bagamoyo. At Bagamoyo, the original capital of German East Africa, you will learn much about the rich history of Tanzania. Visit the Port of Slavs market at the Holy Ghost Mission, then walk along the beach and sink your toes in the white sands on the way to the local fish market where local fishermen gather to sell their catch. Enjoy a lovely sunset and overnight at your hotel.
Day 3, Bagamoyo to Udzungwa Mountain National Park via Mikumi National Park
Arise at dawn to travel northwest into the interior of Tanzania through the savannas of Mikumi. Observe the wildlife along the way, stopping briefly fors photograph when a nearby encounter of the animal kind takes place. Giant baobab trees grace the grasslands with their distinctive “upside down” appearance. Stop for a break and take lunch, enjoy the local craftwares. A late afternoon arrival will put us into Udzungwa where we will overnight. Relax, breathe in the fresh mountain air, listen to the monkeys talk. Enjoy dinner and turn in for the night.
Day 4, Udzungwa National Park
What is black and white, and red all over and not the newspaper, Colobus monkeys! (la poésie autorisation révoquée). Observe six different primates speices including endemic Red Colubus and Mangabey along the hike to Sanje Falls, a 700 meter (~560’) high waterfall. Over 400 species of birds inhabit the park along with more than 2,500 plant species making Udzungwa the second most biodiverse park in Africa. Upon arriving at the falls, loose the boots, etc. and enjoy the refreshing plunge pools. The hike is about a two to four hours round trip. We overnight at Udzungwa.
Day 5, Drive from Udungwa to Mikimi National Parks
Search the landscape along the drive from Udzungwa to Mikumi for lions on the hunt. Elephants, zebra, impalas and wildebeest are easily seen along the way. A stop at the largest sugarcane farm in Tanzania will allow us to stretch out our legs and have lunch. The afternoon will provide us with wildlife viewing up close in Mikumi National Park. Tonight, we enjoy the respite of Udzungwa.
Day 6, Mikumi National Park
We return to Mikumi for an all day wildlife viewing adventure, taking a break for lunch just long enough to regain our momentum. You will see abundant wildlife here, punda milas, kongonis, mbogos, simbas and kibokos too. Enjoy seeing the amazing creatures of Tanzania and East Africa. We overnight at Mikumi!
Day 7, Return to Dar Es Salaam
